The First Note
The Future Sounds Good
Cyril and Irma Mae White founded White's Music Center in the city of Tulare in 1947. The first store was on East Tulare Avenue in the heart of downtown.
Keith and Janice White took ownership of White's Music Center in 1960 and expanded to four locations across the Central Valley until the passing of Keith White in 2009.
The Band Played On
Robert and Michelle White reopened White's Music Center in 2010 at the corner of Caldwell and Court in Visalia, CA. They are the third husband and wife team in this time honored family tradition.
Robert and Michelle White
Robert grew up in his family’s store. It was no surprise he would go on to get his degree in Band Instrument Repair from the Red Wing Campus at Southeastern Technical College in Redwing, Minnesota. His knowledge, technical skills, and over 30 years experience has made our on-site shop one of a kind.
Michelle White has been working with White’s Music Center since 1997. She is the Office Manager and Robert’s right hand lady. Although she does not play an instrument she plays a mean calculator.
“My wife and I value our customers, and are especially excited when we see a child’s face light up as they walk out with their first instrument. It is not unusual to hear parents say, “My Mom and Dad got my first instrument from White’s when I was in 5th grade.” We feel the gift of music is something very special and can carry you through your entire life. Music in not just for the young but for all ages.”

Jackie McCue plays French Horn and Trumpet--and being a repair technician plays a little of everything. She's also a member of the Tulare Community Band with her husband and father-in-law.
Our newest member, Asa, has been walking through our doors since he was a tiny little guy. A graduate of Golden West High School, you can usually find him as the front guy of the uber popular ska band
For The Record.
